Alyssa Megan Richardson, a devoted granddaughter, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and friend, passed away at her home on March 21, 2021. Her passing occurred on the Sunday of that week. Alyssa was born on June 4, 1989, she has spent the majority of her life in Mayodan, and she received her high school education from Dalton L. McMichael.
Alyssa was a young lady with a lot of intelligence. Always performing at a high academic level, and receiving accolades and honors for her achievements. Even to the point of being awarded the Presidential Award for Educational Excellence by President Bill Clinton. She had a deep love for all kinds of creatures, and as a result, her home was frequently overrun with rescued pets. She had a big heart and was a wonderful person who was not afraid to face danger. Her warm laugh, quick wit, and generous nature will be greatly missed by a lot of people.
Annie Mae Pyrtle, Alyssa’s great-grandmother, passed away before the young woman’s birth. Her maternal great-grandmother, Mildred Dunlap; her special sister, Katie Hamby; her parents, Tina Richardson and Mark Richardson; her paternal grandparents, John and Carolyn Richardson; her brother, Dylan; and many more members of her extended family are among those who are able to carry on her legacy. Her three cherished dogs, Scout, Boss, and Kane, will miss her in a way that is indescribable.
There will be a memorial ceremony held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the Colonial Funeral Home in Madison, North Carolina.
