The moment Dr Olufemi Olaleye was escorted out of the court premises after being sentenced to life imprisonment was captured in a video.
he video shows the Medical Director of the Optical Cancer Care Foundation leaving the Sexual and Special Offences Court in Ikeja, with correctional officers leading him out.
He was put in handcuffs as the officers led him out to begin his sentence.
On Tuesday, Oct. 24, a court in Lagos sentenced Olaleye to life imprisonment for raping his wife’s niece (read here).
The judgment was delivered by Rahman Oshodi, the judge at the Special Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Lagos.
The judge convicted Olaleye on a two-count charge of defilement of a 16-year-old minor and sexual assault by penetration.
According to Justice Oshodi, the evidence showed he raped the victim and forced her to perform a sexual act.
He held that the evidence of the victim and the doctor who examined her was consistent.
The judge added that Olaleye’s confessional statement and exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife were enough evidence against him.
Justice Oshodi also held that the statement and undertaking he wrote and signed alongside his lawyer, Olalekan Buruji, with his NBA seal at Anthony Police Station, showed he raped the victim.
