The Banaskantha police in Gujarat, India, has arrested a Nigerian national, Nwakaego Paul, and seized a substantial quantity of methamphetamine, a prohibited psychotropic substance, valued at Rs 4.26 crore.
Banaskantha district’s superintendent of police, Akshayraj Makwana, in a statement on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, said that the accused, who resided in Delhi, was reportedly en route to Mumbai to deliver the contraband.
The arrest occurred during a late-night interception on Tuesday, November 7, when Paul was traveling aboard a private luxury bus.
Acting on a credible tip-off, the police halted the bus at the Amirgadh check-post as it entered the district from Rajasthan.
During the search, law enforcement discovered 4.26kg of methamphetamine in her possession.
Makwana stated that the accused had procured the drugs from an undisclosed source in Delhi. Further investigations are underway to uncover her connections and the drug’s origin.
The police investigation has revealed that Nwakaego Paul arrived in India in 2021 on a two-month visa and had been residing in the Deepak Vihar area of Delhi.
