Hisbah and security operatives have confiscated 22 cartons of alcoholic drinks and banned a local brothel in Ngalda community in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The joint operation led by the chairperson of Fika LGA, Hajiya Halima Kyari Joda, comprised the Hisbah, Department of State Services (DSS) Army, Nigeria Police Force, local vigilantes, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
92 suspects were also arrested during the operation for selling alcohol, illicit drugs, prostitution, and possession of local weapons.
According to Hajiya Joda, Islam does not support the sales and consumption of alcohol, and gala (brothel) activities.
She urged Muslims to instead pray for bumper harvest and lasting peace in the State and Nigeria at large.
Spokesperson of the chairperson, Abubabar Ayuba Idris, confirmed the development to newsmen.
“Ngala town was well known for business and agricultural activities. Residents of the community have expressed their concern about how the situation is ruining their children’ education,” he said.
