Colton Bond Obituary And Death Cause Linked To Accident: Family Mourns The Loss
Colton Bond of Edna died along with his grandparents, Jimmy Bond and Barbara Bond, in a vehicle accident on Friday night.
In an instant, three residents of Edna were killed on 26 May 2023, just after 11:30 pm, when their truck struck a cow in Labette County, Western Kansas.
The accident occurred on U.S. 166, six miles east of U.S.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), Jimmy Bond, 81, hit a cow in a Dodge Ram pickup while he was traveling east on Kansas Highway 166.
It led to a vehicle failure. Consequently, his truck swerved into the oncoming lane.
The other driver tried to dodge Bond’s truck but failed. As a result, the truck and the other vehicle collided head-on. Unfortunately, the 81-year-old was traveling with his two family members – his grandson, Colton Bond, 21, and his wife, Barbara Bond, 79.
All three, Colton and his grandparents, were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. The other driver reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Colton Bond Was Returning Home With His Grandparents
As mentioned above, Colton Bond died along with his grandparents in a head-on collision late on Friday in Labette County.
The 21-year-old college cowboy was returning home with his grandfather and grandmother after watching his little brother, Tagg, compete in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association Finals in Mulvane.
The Kansas Highway Patrol stated that Jimmy Bond, Colton’s grandfather, was driving his truck eastward on U.S. Highway 166 when it collided with a cow in the road, pushing the vehicle into the westbound lane.
The driver of a westbound semi tried to avoid colliding with the Bonds, but he ran out of time, resulting in a head-on collision.
Who Was Colton Bond?
Young and gifted cowboy Colton Bond qualified for this year’s inaugural National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association College National Finals Steer Roping reported Medico Topics.
The young cowboy participated in rodeo competitions with the Garden City Community College Rodeo Team from 2020 to 22. Bond also competed in this year’s Coffeyville Community College Rodeo.
In the regional team roping standings, the young man placed eighth at the end of the year. He participated in a newly established steer roping class in November, placing 13th nationally and earning a spot in the first-ever National Finals Steer Roping College class.
In high school rodeo, he won the 2019 Kansas High School Rodeo Association state tie-down roping title and the 2020 KHSRA team roping title.
His mother, Kelly, father, Jim Tom, and little brother, Tagg are devasted because of his passing. A GoFundMe has been launched in order to help the Bond family during this unfathomable loss.
