A 27-year-old media personality, Yusuf Mubarak who was declared missing in Kwara State, has been found dead.
Mubarak was said to have been last seen around the Federal Secretariat area, Federal Road, Ilorin, around 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.
Since then, the student of the Nasarawa State University was unreachable. His lifeless body was, however, found along the Unity Road area of the Ilorin metropolis on Saturday, September 16.
A journalist, Saeed Tijjani, confirmed the development in a Facebook post.
“Distinguished Friends and Lovers of Yusuf Mubaraq Authority, we regret to announce and confirm the unfortunate death of our brother who was declared missing yesterday. May Allah accept his return unto Him, forgive his sins, reward him with Janah, and abide with all that he left behind,” he wrote.
Reacting to the development, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, directed security agencies to get to the root of the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
A statement issued by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, described as shocking and saddening the death of Yusuf Mubaarak under hazy circumstances.
“Mubaarak, a new media personality who hails from Ilorin, went missing on Wednesday night but his remains were eventually found around Unity area of the state capital. He was buried on Saturday evening in Ilorin amid tears by friends, associates and acquaintances,” the statement read.“The Governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the family of Mubaarak, his friends, and all the youth constituencies in the state“The Governor, himself a father, strongly condemns the cowardly violence meted to the lad and demands immediate and thorough investigation into the death of the promising chap to arrest and bring his assailants to justice“No resources should be spared to get justice for Mubaarak and his family. We charge the security agencies to cast their nets as widely as possible to answer all pending questions around his painful death“The Governor prays Allah to grant Mubaarak Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort his family and everyone who mourns the promising lad.”
Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in a condolence message on Sunday, called on authorities to investigate the case.
“I am devastated to learn that Yusuf Mubarak, who was declared missing last Wednesday, has been found and confirmed dead. Another promising young life has been cut short by the mindless violence perpetrated by nefarious individuals,” he wrote.“We must never become desensitized to the pain of the human toll of insecurity. Such losses must continue to serve as a constant reminder that we have to urgently address the security challenges in our state, Kwara, and across the nation. We must do everything to protect our young people“As we mourn Yusuf’s passing, it is my deepest prayer that his family and loved ones find all the comfort that they need at this difficult time — and may our authorities be empowered to comprehensively investigate this case and bring the perpetrators to justice,”
